Steingrímur (Hallgrímsson) Hall |
||
| Sigriður Jóhannesdóttir is Marja Jóhannesdóttir's sister. She married Steingrímur Hallgrímsson in Iceland and they left for North America in 1888. Marja's daughter, Jakobina (Bena) Finnson Freeman wrote that the Hall's sent Marja the money to purchase her fare to North America in 1890. (Read Bena's letter here) | The Halls were living in North Dakota at the time, and Marja lived
with them until her marriage. They eventually moved to Washington State
around 1902, settling first in Marietta, but eventually moving to the
South Blaine area, where they lived the remainder of their lives. (Special thanks to John Breidford, Jr. who sent these photos) |

The photo to the right was sent by Nelson Gerrard
who is collecting photos of Icelandic settlers in North America during
the years 1870-1910 for his upcoming book Silent Flashes.
He has identified this as Steingrímur (Hallgrímsson) Hall and Sigriður Jóhannesdóttir. Their marriage is recorded as December 19, 1890 according to the Mormon Ancestry database. Judging from the veil and boutonnière, this could be their wedding photo. |
